The CAREERfair: RAP and Skilled Trades 2017, is an informational event to enable students and their supports (eg. parents) the opportunity to learn the value of skilled trades, apprenticeships, and related careers.

  • CAREERS workshop on the Registered Apprenticeship Program @ 7:00 (15 min)
  • 30+ exhibitors
  • Share information about skilled trades, related industries, and opportunities for internship
  • Network with trade-related employers
  • Increase student awareness of both common and lesser known career paths

The CAREERshowcases: Sheet Metal Worker and Lather-Interior Systems Mechanic, are informational events to inspire student to explore opportunities in lesser known career paths. Employer members have confirmed 10+ intern placements in each trade for the summer of 2017.

The showcase will:

  • Give students attending first opportunity for interview
  • Feature the diversity of the trade and the projects they will be working on
  • Describe working conditions and employer expectations
  • Including a class/shop tour, for students to connect post-secondary options
  • Network with trade-related employers and instructors
  • Registration NOT required
  • Free event
  • Interviews are often scheduled 2 weeks after showcase

Opportunities are linked to 6-8 week Work Experience/RAP placements, as part of high school curriculum. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are encouraged to attend. Especially, if students have demonstrated an interest in building and construction, or metal and manufacturing.
