2015 Award Recipients

Annual Awards of Excellence

As part of our commitment our vision of strong, vibrant communities, CAREERS honours key players in creating that vision annually. 

The CAREERS: The Next Generation Award of Excellence in Skilled Trades

The Skilled Trades Award recognizes promising high school RAP students and outstanding mentors who are contributing value to Alberta's designated trades. Two students and one mentor will be selected from Northern and Southern Alberta respectively. The award includes a $200 scholarship to be awarded to an eligible student.

The 2015 recipients are: 

  • (Apprentice - North) Cale Lindstrom - Clairmont, AB
  • (Apprentice - North) Trent Skinner - Fort McMurray, AB
  • (Apprentice - South) Noah Iversen - Olds, AB
  • (Apprentice - South) Trueman Hughes - Airdrie, AB
  • (Mentor - North) Alfred MacKay - Athabasca, AB

The Cenovus Award of Excellence in 4th Class Power Engineering

The Cenovus Award of Excellence in 4th Class Power Engineering was created to recognize the outstanding mentors and promising interns who are pursuing and contributing to the dynamic field within power engineering. One student and one mentor will be selected from Northern Alberta and Southern Alberta for a total of four (4) awards. The award includes a $200 scholarship to be awarded to an eligible student.

The 2015 recipients are:

  • (Student - North) Justin Meyer - Rainbow Lake, AB
  • (Mentor - North) Aaron Brown, Weyerhaeuser - Grande Prairie, AB
  • (Mentor - South) Danny Hansen, ATCO Power - Hanna, AB

 

The Loraine Anderton Award of Excellence in Health Services

The Loraine Anderton Award recognizes outstanding mentors and promising interns who are pursuing and contributing to dynamic fields within health services. Each year, one student and one mentor will be selected from Northern and Southern Alberta respectively. The award includes a $200 scholarship to be awarded to an eligible student.

The 2015 recipients are:

  • (Intern - North) Tina Hertz-Kleptow - Westlock, AB
  • (Intern - South) Tia Giesbrecht - Lethbridge, AB
  • (Mentor - North) Jennifer Felitsyn - Radway, AB

 

The Hilton Mierau Award of Excellence in Off-Campus Learning

The Hilton Mierau Award recognizes two outstanding Off-Campus Coordinators each year, in both Northern and Southern Alberta. This award was established by CAREERS through a donation from the Heck family, and includes a $250 scholarship to be awarded to an eligible student within the school of the named recipient.

The 2015 recipients are: 

  • (North) Lynda Cachia, Father Patrick Mercredi High School, Fort McMurray, AB
  • (South) Renee Rudolph, Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School, Red Deer, AB
