An Introduction to the Central Alberta Career Expo Minimize

The Career Expo for Central Alberta is a one day event where professionals in various trades, occupations and professions will demonstrate and explain a variety of careers and provide attendees with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in that career. Over 70 different careers will be showcased, including Trades and Health careers.

This event will bring together participants including parents, students and educators from six major school divisions and Aboriginal communities as well as youth and adults from the Central Alberta community at large to showcase local employers, associations and post secondary institutions.

Attendees will participate in tours, visual presentations, and hands-on demonstrations and activities that will provide them with a broad understanding about the career opportunities. Youth will match their interests and skills with careers that they may not even have known existed before the event, or find out additional information about careers of interest, resulting in them choosing careers that match their skills and interests

The uniqueness of this event is in the hands-on displays and opportunities for participants to ‘try on’ a career. CAREERS will  also strive to provide video conferencing of the event with live feeds to schools in Central Alberta to accommodate the portion of their student population that are not able to physically attend the event.

The Career Expo is being held in conjunction with the Central Regional Skills Canada Competition.  It is also well timed to assist youth in linking with employers for opportunities in the Registered Apprenticeship Program and summer Work Experience.
